All profits of the Red River Trail Run will again benefit Abigail’s Arms Cooke County Family Crisis Center whose mission is to embrace children, individuals and families to inspire  change and create stronger, safer communities through education and awareness.  The focus of this benefit will be the services provided for children who are victims of crime.  Thanks to the participants and sponsors, we were able to donate over $3500 from the 2018 event.

7:00 pm - Cut-off for all distances


*Sunrise is at 7:20 am and marathoners will want to utilize headlamps or alternative lighting

Barteau Ranch:


  • Saturday, September 28 (6:00 am) 
  • Timing chips will be distributed on Saturday morning only
  • Note that Barteau Ranch requires a signed waiver upon entering the property 


   The trail system that the race is held is on dirt trails, which vary in condition from flatter, smooth "runnable" sections to more technical areas with rocks and roots with steeper hills.  Please see the video below for a general idea of the terrain 


Shirts, Medals & Awards

  • Participants will receive a soft tri-blend Red River Trail Run shirt
  • Finishers will receive custom woodalions designed in the USA
  • Podium Awards:  Top 3 M/F Overall, First Masters M/F (40 & Over), First Youth M/F (18 & Under)

Cupless Race

 A cup-less race means that there will be no paper water cups between the start and the finish line like you’d typically see at road races. 


Please bring a bottle/bladder or purchase a HydraPak SPEEDCUP™ onsite for $5 and we will refill them at the aid stations. 

Aid Stations

  • Water, Tailwind electrolyte drink, nutrition, and encouragement from the volunteers
  • Aid Stations located every 3-5 miles along the course

Additional Details

  • Free camping will be available Friday, September 27th at the race venue (Barteau Ranch). No hook ups are available and open fires will not be allowed.  Barteau Ranch requires a signed waiver upon entering the property. Donations to Abigail's Arms are greatly appreciated!

  • Chip-timed race & Results posted online. Chips will be attached to an ankle strap, picked up on Saturday morning at Barteau Ranch & must be worn on your ankle during the race.  Chips must be returned after the race.
  • For the safety of the other runners unfortunately we cannot allow dogs on the trail during the race 
  • As is standard for trail races, the distance designation is merely an approximation. It's about the experience!
  • Any runner caught littering is subject to immediate disqualification.  Please carry any litter to the next Aid Station where garbage bags are provided.

Volunteers will receive a Red River Trail Run volunteer shirt.​ There are opportunities to staff aid stations, provide assistance with course navigation, packet pickup and help at the start/finish line.

  1. Take I 35 North from Denton
  2. at Hwy 82 in Gainesville, Head East 4.3mi
  3. Turn north, left on FM371 go 2.8mi
  4. Turn north, left on FM 371 towards Walnut Bend, go 5.3mi
  5. Turn right on FM2383, go 2.6mi 
  6. Turn left on CR115 (Hibbit Baptist Church sign)
  7. Go 2.5mi on white chalky road, gate on your left

The mission of the North Texas Trail Runners is the promotion and encouragement of long distance trail running and the education of the public to its benefits. NTTR is about fun, fellowship, and supporting each other!

 NTTR is very active in the local trail running community.  We continue to hold monthly "trail rodeos" as well as supporting local trail maintenance.  We have amazing volunteers that help with local races.  We've donated to each the following local, trail-run supporting organizations: Back on My Feet Dallas, Friends of the Grasslands, GallantFew and Town North Optimist Foundation

The organizational meeting of North Texas Trail Runners was held at the Irving, Texas home of Fred Holmes, club organizer and first president, on April 18, 1996. On the agenda was planning of the inaugural Rockledge Rumble 50k.
